KOLORADO :: Sifas

"Whood is rarely used as an experimental structural material in the design of contemporary furniture, despite its timeless qualities of natural comfort, its being a natural material, and its essential characteristic as a renewable resource.
I was looking for a way to work identical woods slats to create a rich sculptured complex surface. These characteristics convey well-being and comfort, two elements that go well with this material".

ZONA TORTONA DESIGN :: Press prewiew 17 april 2007

For the third year in a row, Zona Tortona Design’s Press & Meeting Point, will take up residence in a dedicated space at ‘T35’, located at Via Tortona 35. This is the real headquarters of Zona Tortona Design 2007, and will offer services to the press, architects, designers, opinion leaders and general visitors. The Press Area, reserved exclusively for use by the media where Zona Tortona Design 2007 press kits will be distributed by our Press Office.

In the mornings, the basement of the Meeting Point will host workshops, debates, press conferences and exhibitions dealing with the latest developments in design. In the afternoon a series of seminars will be presented relating to different aspects of design, organised in partnership with the Russian magazine Monitor. Featured speakers include important architects and designers.

The Company Lea Ceramiche will present an exclusive installation – ‘GPS-Geography for Surfaces’, designed by Diego Grandi. An emotional journey using the potential of the materials chosen and the exclusive design of the Lea Ceramiche collection. Together creating a redefined and fantastic geography grounded within the context of thought and communication. Diego Grandi creates a new synthetic and physical map, drawing inspiration from an imagined topography existing under the earth’s surface. Broad and curvy ceramic surfaces constitute a functional and tactile environment, a timeless virtual voyage that leads “everywhere and nowhere”. The polished components of the eclectic collection Project L14 create ceramic volumes each different from the another, using yellow and mustard shades. Stylised black trees contrast with brilliant surfaces setting off a multitude of colours using naked light bulbs, de-contextualised and repeated bright lights.

Bmw 1 Series presents “THINK LIKE NO ONE”, an interactive installation with large technological mirrors projecting ‘live’ what goes on within the space. Innovation, technology and an advanced use of digital media are the guiding principles behind the event. An on-going interaction between hardware and software that maps the visitors’ movements. The system reacts to the guest’s body. In the mirror one will see their reflection with a sort of ‘speech bubbble’ - a sentence or a single word. The visitors takes a lead role sending out clearly visible messages. Each mind reveals its thoughts, each thought linked to a face. The project: BMW 1 Series ‘THINK LIKE NO ONE’ has been organised by dotdotdot.

The Lounge and Multimedia Area, on the first floor, have been created to provide a haven of tranquillity within the intense design tour; Nokia Nseries will be present with a the Nokia Home Digital Experience project. A lounge where it will be possible to live the Home Digital Experience, taking ‘5’, relaxing, listening to music watching videos and images and getting connected using Nokia’s Nseries products. Main attractions include the brand-new N76: a multimedia computer that includes all the functions of the Nseries in an innovative design. The N95 replete with integrated GPS navigation system and 5 mega-pixel camera which can support a wireless connection that allows the owner to watch and record videos, listen to music, take high resolution photos, surf the net and read e-mails wherever and whenever.

Another noteworthy event on the first floor in the lounge area is the installation: Let’s Talk RELUX, presented by Swiss company RELUX Informatik AG, an industry leader in the provision of products for the calculation and representation of light, providing also an exclusive database. Lightweb srl, a company providing consultations, design and services relating to lighting has organised an interactive multimedia space. Lightweb srl is also Italy’s sole distributor of ReluxInformatik AG’s products. A chance for lighting and interior designers, architects and industry
