The State of Design 2008: Victoria's Design Festival


The State of Design, incorporating the Premier's Design Awards, is the peak design event of the Victorian calendar.

A Victorian Government initiative, the State of Design will be delivered in 2008 by the State of Design Alliance (SODA): Australian Exhibitions and Conferences Pty Ltd, Winslow Solutions Pty Ltd and Studio Propeller Pty Ltd.

With both a public and industry face, the Festival will cover many cross disciplinary design agendas relating to the profession of design and the marketplace that it provides to - this includes architecture, graphic design, interior design, product design, industrial design, interactive design, theatre and set design, exhibition design, textile design and craft practice.

The 2008 State of Design will offer both local and international conversations on design, with a focus on design from Melbourne and across Victoria.

The State of Design will be a connected series of events that create a rallying point for the Victorian design sector In addition to the Premier's Design Awards and Exhibition, events include a new trade event - Design Made Trade, the business symposium Design Capital and a Victoria-wide satellite program - Design for Everyone.

The 2009 Michelin Challenge Design


The Michelin Challenge Design in January 2009 at the NAIAS will display vehicles and vehicle design concepts that hope to become America's Next Iconic Vehicle.

America's Next Iconic Vehicle
Unique - Emotional - Courageous

Michelin invites you to design America's next iconic vehicle! Uniqueness emotional appeal, design courage and technical execution are elements that will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of experts from the industry.

Additional consideration will be given to entries that also include:

  • At least one rendering illustrating a component assembly that incorporates the tire, wheel and suspension system where the wheel diameter must appear larger than what it would normally be for a corresponding tire seat diameter.
  • At least one attribute that would qualify this vehicle as being significantly more environmentally friendly than current production vehicles.
  • At least one attribute that would qualify this vehicle as providing its occupants and/or other road users with increased levels of safety relative to current production vehicles.

To be considered by the jury, each entry should include the following:

  • Renderings illustrating your interpretation of America's next iconic vehicle.
  • A brief description of your concept design including technologies or other elements that best describe how your design solution will meet the theme requirements.
  • Attributes that benefit safety and the environment, as well as the tire/wheel component assembly, need to be clearly illustrated through complementary renderings as well as a brief description of their respective concepts and benefits.

The Michelin Challenge Designâ„¢ 2009 at NAIAS will take place January 2009.

Shoe Design Contest


Hi,
do you feel like being creative and designing your own shoe? Then participate the 'CEC Shoe Design Contest'! Circumscribe your shoe concept using text, pictures, animated graphics, ... There're no limits to your creativity! Of course, participation is free and can easily be done in the internet. You find more information and access here http://www.cec-codesign.net.

The best ideas will be awarded with production of a prototype of your own shoe and other amazing prizes. The ranking of shoe designs will be carried out by well-known European firms, e. g. Hugo Boss, Hergar and Future Concept Lab. As part of the European research project CEC the contest has no commercial background.

NESPRESSO DESIGN CONTEST 2008


PARTICIPATION ::

TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST, REGISTER ONLINE AS OF MARCH 1, 2007 AND SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 31, 2007 AT WWW.NESPRESSO.COM/DESIGN. THE SELECTION WILL GO THROUGH A TWO-PHASED PROCESS WHICH IS OUTLINED AS FOLLOWS:

FIRST PHASE ::

AN INITIAL SCREENING WILL REVIEW ALL PROJECTS SUBMITTED BY THE DEADLINE AND COMPLIANT WITH CONTEST RULES.

SECOND PHASE ::

IF YOU ARE SELECTED, YOU WILL BE INFORMED VIA E-MAIL BY THE END OF NOVEMBER AND YOUR NAME WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE. DEPENDING ON YOUR SCHOOL’S FACILITIES AND TYPE OF PROJECT, NESPRESSO WILL ASK YOU TO DEVELOP YOUR PROJECT WITH A 3 - D MODEL INTERPRETING YOUR VISION OF COFFEE LUXURY. THE EXPENSES FUND ALLOCATED FOR THIS PURPOSE WILL BE COMMUNICATED IN DUE TIME.

3-D MODELS (THE COMPLETED PROJECT MUST FIT INTO ONE PACKAGE, AT SCALE, WITH MAXIMUM DIMENSIONS OF: 60 CM X 60 CM).

X::File - We want you for competition!


Pulpo is a supplier of functional living-accessories. Premium quality products are created and manufactured in cooperation with designers. – DESIGNSPOTTER.com is the European leading online-magazine when it comes to fresh and young design-ideas. We have put our heads together and invented something for you: â€X:File†– Your chance to show what you got!

Task: From 2D to 3D - Design a product in the field of living-accessories / furniture / small furniture

Material: Ssteel plate 1.5 mm to 2 mm or corrugated cardboard up to 8 mm (BA) with 400 gram kraft liner. Working with the Steel Plate: using laser, twist / cant, cover with powder. Working with the Cardboard: produce the stamping die mold, stamp, assemble.
Measurements: The length and girth combined should not exceed 3 meters: 2 x height, 2 x width, 1 x longest side.

Requirements: max. height 60 cm max. width 80 cm max. length 200 cm

Mode of Submitting: The products can be submitted as pictures, drawings or prototypes.

Prize and Prize Awarding

QUIKSILVER ROSSIGNOL GROUP LAUNCHES ‘INNOVATION CONTEST’


QUIKSILVER ROSSIGNOL GROUP is proud to launch the first edition of the INNOVATION CONTEST, the annual futuristic competition opened to progressive and passionate athletes, designers everywhere, from professionals to amateurs.

Pierre AGNES, President of Quiksilver Europe says “As both a leader and an innovator the Companies group of brands must always kept our consumers needs in mind. The objective of the innovation competition is to imagine the future of our lifestyle pursuits, sports and the products within and celebrate this.â€

On May 10, 2007 the contest will start with 4 months given to applicants to submit their best futuristic ideas and product concepts within the outdoor sports lifestyle category.

The product concepts submitted will be judged on real future innovations in design and technologies that have been developed with users needs in mind whilepracticing boardsports and leisure activities.

The submission is simple, contestants can visualise and write about an innovative idea. September 27, 2007 a prestigious jury composed by celebrated leaders in the fields of design, sport and innovation will judge the 30 finalists and elect the 3 winners

asics :: FILL THE BOX DESIGN COMPETITION 07


We (a group former students of the Design Academy Eindhoven) organise a design competition with the theme footwear.

This design competition is unique in her kind, because the winning design will be produced.

The participating designs will be assessed by a professional jury. The jury already exists of:
