The reorientation of these pieces of furniture in space affords an interesting opportunity to reveal the tensions inherent in how we come to understand and use everyday objects.

The Maistro Seat :: Sebastian Lara

The Maistro seat is the result of a creative exercise of changing the use of the objects, without changing the shape.
For this exercise we use non conventional materials and objects in the world of “design”
The body of the seat is a metal box used for putting concrete, very common in the building industry in Mexico.
The name of “the maistro seat” came from a common slang word for calling a bricklayer.
“Maestro” distorted into “maistro” which means Teacher.

“Stair Squares” :: Mark A. Reigelman II

NYC-based designer Mark A. Reigelman II will install “Stair Squares” across the front steps of Brooklyn's Borough Hall from August 17-26 this summer. The public furniture pieces are designed not only as an aesthetic asset, but as a functional asset as well. They will be strategically integrated into urban landscape and incorporated into daily life.
“Neighborhood workers can take advantage of some al fresco lunch dining while passersby get a sprinkle of color while walking past the historic government building.”

FLOGER Chair :: studio DesignNobis

There is a comment on floger by Cory O'Malley

'A striking new chair prototype from Turkish design studio DesignNobis, this Floger chair successfully reimagines the stackable chair. For anyone who has ever thought the stacking chair is generally a little uncomfortable, the Floger creates a countoured mold to fit the shape of the user, and I'm seeing possibility of interior upholstery, or at least cushions. For stacking, the chair folds into a clamshell, although it's considerably larger than most. But I see this more in the home than in the high school assembly hall, anyway. If the seat can feature cushioning, I think this piece might be a unique bridge between stacking chairs that sit stored away and your comfortable, everyday lounge. ' By: cory o'malley
