BOO :: Ben Oostrum ontwerpt, Erect1 candle holder

Don't you just hate it when you never seem to have candles of the right size at hand when you need them?
That problem is over now, for the Erect1 holds candles from 19 mm up to 24 mm and always straight up.
No more bungling with matches, knives or whatever it takes to make your candle fit and get them straight.
No! Simply press the candle into the candleholder Erect1 and the cutting edges will cut right through the candle creating a solid fixture.

The Erect1 comes with an amazing packaging.

The triangular brown cardboard box is only printed on the inside, which creates a surprising experience when opened.

Torino 2008, THE FIRST WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL

The Golden Compass Comes to the Reggia di Venaria

The exhibit featuring the Historic Collection and the Awards Ceremony, in Piemonte for the first time in the Award’s 54-year history.

The Golden Compass, one of Europe’s most prestigious recognitions in the field of design, will be one of the main events of the year honoring Torino as world design capital. The exhibit featuring the Historic Collection and the Awards Ceremony, for the first time in the Award’s 54-year history, will temporarily move from Milan to Piemonte, to the Reggia della Venaria Reale.

The exhibit will be inaugurated at the end of April and will remain open until the end of July, while the awards ceremony will be held at the end of June. The exact dates for both these events will be officially announced on March 5th in Milan during the presentation of the ADI Design Index.

Over four hundred items will be on exhibit in the Stables of the Reggia di Venaria Reale, which will open their doors to the public for the first time, as they host what is sure to be one of the most beautiful exhibits of the year. Even the prestigious Restoration Center of the Reggia has decided to take advantage of this important opportunity and will initiate a series of activities dedicated to design.

As spring approaches, besides the Golden Compass, three other major exhibits that are part of the Torino 2008 World Design Capital calendar will be inaugurated: on May 8th the Promotrice delle Belle Arti will inaugurate “Olivetti. Una bella società;” on May 24th, it will be the turn of “Geodesign” at the Palafuksas; and on June 28th, “Flexibility” will open at the former prison Le Nuove in Torino.

Les fourmis bleues :: Elen Boutang

Moa

Cumulus

"More than a simple light source, each model is created as a luminous sculpture, from which emanates a unique atmosphere.
These materials participate as much as the shapes to the singularity of each model, as well as to its identity and open a door on a magical universe where tactile feelings, well being and interior voyage are mingled together.
Metal, paper, plexiglas or polymer, the materials are grey, white, transparent or sanded."
The boreal lightness of the leds adds to each model a stroke of mystery and freshness.

DESIGN AND DESIGN :: IT ALL STARTS WITH AN INSPIRED, SPONTANEOUS IDEA (BETA)

I have the pleasure to contact you regarding the project we were working on to promote the worldwide community of designers: how? by simply showing every day "the best you can get" design wise (and not necessarily what sells the best...).

design and design is now finally online and it's back office, after a lot of hard working and fine tuning, is now strong enough to back-up tons of substantial designs! (crossed fingers.)

more seriously, we are aware that this ambitious project has no future without your true commitment and massive support. it's why we personally look forward to receiving your submissions on www.designanddesign.com through the "submit my design" module. (ours humble designs are feeling a bit lonely without yours.)
